어반북스는 이윤만과 김태경이 2009년 서울에서 시작한 콘텐츠 퍼블리싱 컴퍼니입니다.
우리는 퍼블리싱을 단순히 책을 만드는 일이 아니라, 리서치와 아카이브를 통해 발견한 생각과 감각을 구조화하고,
종이를 중심으로 한 물성을 통해 실체화하는 일이라고 생각합니다.
도시를 이루는 사람과 장소, 사물과 브랜드를 관찰하고 기록합니다.
우리가 관찰하고 축적하는 것은 결국 동시대 도시를 이루는 감각, 즉 ‘도시미감(都市美感)’입니다.
그 과정에서 축적한 관점과 방법론을 다양한 프로젝트로 확장하고 있습니다.
<어반라이크>, <아키프서울>, <아틀리에 드 에디토>, <도시서점> 등의 오리지널 레이블과 프로젝트를 전개해왔으며
여기에서 축적한 편집적 감각과 제작 경험을 바탕으로 브랜드, 기업, 공공기관과 협업해왔습니다.
출판물을 중심으로 콘텐츠, 공간, 오브제까지 영역을 확장하며 퍼블리싱이 가질 수 있는 새로운 형태와 가능성을 탐구합니다.
URBANBOOKS is a publishing company founded in Seoul in 2009 by Yunman Lee and Aki Kim.
We see publishing as more than making books.
It is a process of structuring ideas and sensibilities discovered through research and archival practice,
and giving them tangible form through the materiality of paper.
We observe and document the people, places, objects, and brands that shape the city.
We have developed original labels and projects including URBANLIKE, AKP SEOUL, ATELIER de EDITO, and urbanbookshop.
What we continue to observe and accumulate is, ultimately, the sensibility of contemporary urban life —
what we call Urban Sensibility. The perspectives and methodologies developed through this process extend into a wide range of projects.
Drawing on the editorial perspective and production expertise built through these initiatives,
we have collaborated with brands, corporations, and public institutions.
With publications at the core,
we expand into content, spaces, and objects, exploring new forms and possibilities of publishing.
